I opened the box in the closet today
That I packed away
The day after you broke my heart
I thought I’d filled it
With moonlit nights and starry eyes,
Gauzy veils and finest wines
But all I found was tawdry ribbons,
cheap chocolate,
and stale crumbs of candy corn.
Very moving.
