Bats in shadow: shadow puppets

Thinking about shadows and being already in the state of creating made me reminisce about my childhood and putting on shadow puppet shows for the local kids in our neighborhood. We even had a little "stage" made out of cardboard and an old sheet we'd use and we came up with elaborate little short plays all acted out with shadows. In the spirit of this theme, I created some very simple little bat shadow puppets but ran out of time to make a full stage. Instead, I used my galaxy light and ceiling and I think the results are even more ethereal and spooky so I'm really happy with how this turned out!

Mediums:

• Cardboard

• Bamboo skewers + tape

• Galaxy light + ceiling

13 Days 13 Shorts 2026: By Any Mediums Necessary

My goal for this year's 13 Days 13 Shorts is not to choose one medium and stick to it for all prompts as I usually do. Instead I will follow where the spark of creating takes me with each prompt, utilizing various mediums as they inspire me and invoke any sense of joy. I'm dubbing this year - 13 Days 13 Shorts: By Any Mediums Necessary.
