And just like that another 13 Days 13 Shorts comes to a close. But what does that mean exactly? Well, a few things. And also, in a way, very little. In one way, we now get to wait until next year’s festival. Next year’s themes. Anticipate future projects and getting excited about different ways we can show off and celebrate our creativity. But also, in another way, it means very little. Because 13 Days is still here. Not just the gallery, which will stay up so you can visit and revisit your favorite pieces any time. But also 13 Days will always be here.
This started as a fun project between friends in a ratty college town apartment in 2006. Our goal was to have 13 written short stories by Halloween. We got one. And a poem. Now this festival is an international event. Folks from all over the world contribute art and creativity and energy and support. Our gallery is filled with HUNDREDS of pieces of original art spanning from sketches to collages to tarot readings and photographs and even dungeons and dragons creations.
I could’t be more proud of this festival. I couldn’t be more honored. And I truly could not be more grateful.
There’s a newsletter about to be sent out where I will get to highlight my favorite moments of this year. So I won’t go on and on and on at the risk of repeating myself. But I hope you enjoyed this year’s festival. I hope you got out of it everything you wanted. I hope you found a new favorite artist. I hope you found some new favorite art. And honestly I kind of hope both of those are you and yours.
And if not, if you didn’t quite get it right or the themes didn’t quite fit or you ran out of time, that’s okay! It’s always okay. Because 13 Days is still here. And 13 Days will always be here.
Have a great winter. Or summer. And a great new year. And a great season after that. And season after that.
But get ready.
Because Halloween is always right around the corner.
