Newcastle Rocklin Gold Hill Cemetery District

On Wednesday I took a walk to the Newcastle cemetery. It was the first rain of the season and I was dressed as Bellatrix Lestrange because we were celebrating Halloween for our kiddos coming in to see the doctor. It was the perfect setup, gloomy, wet day as I walked my boots click clacked against the asphalt and black dress flowed in the breeze. As I reached the cemetery gates I chose to go left and up the hill. It started to rain. I continued. As I continued I found that I had chosen the path to the older tombstones. This one pictured was my favorite one. Its energy drew me towards it. This is the Boggs family. John Craig Boggs died in 1909. Alice Watson Boggs died in 1912. Craig C. Boggs died in 1909. John G. Boggs died in 1909. Mary Boggs Evans died in 1941. Baby Isabel no death date. Baby no name no death date. I took a moment to pay my respects. I wondered when was the last time someone stood where I stood and mourned this family. So I did. I tried to create a story in my head about a family, brothers and sisters, children and grandparents. Let’s all take a moment to remember those we have lost and remember those who have been lost and not remembered.
