Sub header: good guys doll: friend or fiend

Toys come with all sorts of accessories these days. Outfits, vehicles, downloadable videos and now... threats?

William Rice at the Omni Consumer Watchdog Institute thinks that this doll is not playing around.

“It’s threatening families,” says Rice, “These are just things you shouldn’t be allowed to have a toy say if it’s going to be consumed by the public. This calls for, at the very least, a warning on the box. And at most, a full recall. Maybe an FBI investigation.”

But parents buying the doll for their children are less concerned.

“If it’s taking them away from their screens, I’m happy,” says Mary DaCosta, business owner and mother of three. “At least with the doll, I know where my kid is, I know who he’s talking to, I don’t have to worry about radicalization or indoctrination or microtransactions.”

Rice is not swayed. “This thing is literally verbalizing violence. I’ve watched this doll. It moves on its own. It has the energy of a deranged criminal. I mean, just listen to it!”

Toy or no toy, one thing is certain: this doll isn’t going away this holiday season without a fight.
