Entry 11 by Mikaela Miyamoto
Dear Dreadful Diary,
I may have made a mistake. Edward was to visit today, but in the hours leading up to his arrival I felt this unimaginable dread. I knew he arrived before his knuckles even reached the dark wood of my front door because a chill ran up my spine. The window above the kitchen sink knocked open on its own and a breeze found its way inside. When I opened the door my eyes fell first not upon his mesmerizing eyes but the amulet on his chest. It was exactly like the amulet that had appeared recently as a message in the clouds! I knew I recognized it from somewhere. But of course I did considering I had given it to him! I could not believe I had forgotten about it. Clearly the warnings were about him. But I shrugged my doubts off and tried to enjoy our time together. He brought some sandwiches he’d made himself along with a small cake he picked up at the store for us to enjoy together! The sandwiches tasted a bit… off. The bread seemed a little hard and dry, the cheese was non-existent, and I couldn’t quite make out what type of meat he had used. When I asked him he simply replied it was what he had in his kitchen at the time. The cake, however, was quite delicious! It had a beautiful deep red rose decorating the center along with a frame of tiny blue forget me nots. We took it out to enjoy in the garden along with some rose tea I brewed. No magic though! Just my fondness and the petals filled the pot. It was a peaceful time. Although I had this lingering feeling of dread in the back of my head the whole time. When Edward asked about the garden I couldn’t help but tell him about my family too. This is where I learned that I may have made a minor mistake and what my family was warning me about became much more apparent. Edward just so happens to be descended from a very prominent family of witches, much like my own. Although he seems unaware of it, his family name is infamous. Their family symbol is, of course, the crow. And much like the Montagues and Capulets our families are at odds. It is a true stroke of bad luck that we crossed paths while I’m on my trip. I have a bit more foresight than Juliet though and will end things soon. He invited me to his home this Friday to watch a movie together. He said he would have the house to himself so we wouldn’t be bothered. I agreed to go. I believe it is safe enough for me to visit and if I sense something is off I can easily fly back home. I will break things off with him then. The last day of my trip is that Saturday so it wouldn’t be hard to avoid him after as I’ll only be here a day more after that. I can’t believe my trip is already coming to an end. It is quite bittersweet. Until next time dear friend.
Love,
Luna the Lively
